Workshop Rules
- Payment is due at the time of sign-up, which is when you will also receive instructions for the workshop (if available). Payment of the workshop fee will guarantee a place in the workshop. Members are allowed to sign up without payment, but a place is not guaranteed until payment is received.
- Fees for the 3-4 hour workshops are $35 and all-day workshops are $50. Additional fees are sometimes required. See the specific workshop for more information. Note: Non-members must also pay an additional $10 per workshop.
- Half-day workshops (Saturdays) are held from 12:45 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. Full-day workshops (Fridays) are held from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
- If you are unable to attend the workshop after signing up, notify the workshop chair. If there is someone on the waiting list, she will take your place and will send you payment. If there is no waiting list, your money is non-refund and non-transferable to other workshops. Be sure you are able to attend the workshop at the time of sign-up.
- If you miss a guild meeting or you are not a member of the guild and you wish to take a workshop, use the contact section below to request information.
- Unless otherwise directed, bring basic sewing supplies to all workshops (scissors, sewing machine, thread, etc.). Irons and extension cords will be provided for your use.

12:45 - 4:45 p.m. Kathryn Groves "Atomic Starburst" Fee: $35 + $12 for pattern Class Size: 20 Spaces Available: 20 The Atomic Starburst Quilt by Violet Craft is a combination of traditional and paper piecing techniques. It is a great quilt for your first venture into paper piecing! This quilt is perfect for all quilters - from confident beginners to more experienced quiltmakers. This project is also perfect for Fat Quarters, yardage or Layer cakes for your star points. In addition to the supply list — a cutting template, instructions and a short instructional video will be provided to help you prepare your fabrics for paper piecing. During the workshop our goal will be to complete 2 star blocks. Additional blocks and the assembly of your quilt top will be done after the workshop concludes. I will be available via email to answer any questions you have as you finish your quilt. Sewing foundations-enough for 2 diamonds for each participant (included in their fee) – additional pre-printed foundation papers needed can be purchased from instructor. This includes discussing necessary supplies, fabric selection, background preparation, and most important -- preparation for the collage process. **No sewing machine is needed for the workshop itself. The following month, the workshop on May 16, is a full-day Friday workshop to bring your collage project to fruition! Our workshop goal is to get your collages near-ready for quilting on your domestic machine or on a longarm. Learn an addictive raw edge fabric collage technique that uses no fusible but glue to create this portrait. Your photograph does not need to be of a pet, it can be any animal or similar photograph. This is a full-day (Friday) and ½ day (Saturday) workshop. The instructor will make the photo pattern for you for an additional $20.

12:45 - 4:45 p.m. MJ Kinman's "Improv Gems" Fee: $35 Class Size: 24 Spaces Available: 24 MJ Kinman, maker of giant gemstone quilts, will show you how to create sparkling gem blocks in a whole new way using the power of improvisational piecing. Learn how to use improvisational strip-piecing techniques to create emerald-cut, baguette-cut, and Asscher-cut diamonds. These are diamonds that feature lone, lovely facets-the “hall of mirrors” that highlight the interior clarity of a gem. During class, MJ will discuss color selection for gems (Hint: there is no wrong answer). She’ll show you how to make your gem sparkle with value contrast, and how to make your gem glow with saturation contrast. November 2017 - Members joined the barn quilt movement by creating their own painted quilt block. They started with a primed board and went through each step (drafting, taping, and painting) with careful attention to detail. Everyone left with a finished quilt block. ABCD Quilting Technique by Kim Fauth
October 2017 - Learn how to make the 32 ABCD blocks in the morning. Then take those blocks and learn how to create your own quilts in the afternoon. Your quilt will be uniquely yours.
